UAAP 78 General Championship Magazine

De La Salle University clinched its third UAAP General Championship in Season 78 behind the collective efforts of the DLSU athletes who competed in 29 sporting events. The season had its highs and lows, but each and every Lasallian competitor, coach, and team pulled out all the stops to make Season 78 a great one. My editorial staff at The LaSallian, the official student publication of DLSU, wanted to celebrate the success of all Lasallian athletes who brought the Animo into UAAP Season 78.

A problem I had noticed was that a lot of the previous UAAP Specials had always highlighted basketball, the country's most popular sport. While I have no qualms about the game, I felt that all Lasallian sporting teams should be given credit in the issue, as they had all worked towards that General Championship.

DLSU's athletes competed in a total of 29 UAAP sporting events, so the UAAP 78 Special had an article for each sporting team. After the season recaps, our writers recognized DLSU's male and female athletes of the year, rookies of the year, teams of the year, most improved players, and moment of the year. Because of budget constraints, all this was packaged succinctly into a 28-page magazine.
Each recap included infographics on team standings for the year, as well as highlights of each team's performances for the season.
An online version of the special was made available at uaap78.thelasallian.com on May 31, 2016. Because of high demand, the print copies had soon run out, and those interested to learn more about DLSU's performance in UAAP Season 78 learned more via the online special.
The online special went on to win an Award of Merit in the 2017 Philippine Student Quill Awards, hosted by the International Association of Business Communicators, last 5 July 2017.
